Politicians-State Officials Aware of Falmouth Wind Turbine Noise Before Installation

by Frank Haggerty

Re : 2010 Installation of the Falmouth Massachusetts wind turbine

On June 17.2009 Massachusetts DCR Commissioner Rick Sullivan, DOER Commissioner
Philip Giudice and members of panel hosted a wind turbine listening session held at Massachusetts Maritime Academy. MMA is located at 101 Academy Drive, Buzzards Bay, MA 02532 next to the Town of Falmouth.

In 2009 a meeting was held to solicit comments from the public about wind turbine siting. The comment period was for the first attempt of the proposed Wind Energy Siting Reform Act,WESRA.

Three public comments are below warning about set back issues from the public in 2009 . These public comments warned about setbacks from residential homes. Over 50 Falmouth residents are sick over the poor siting of a commercial wind turbine. The public comments from 2009 fell on deaf ears of the state officials holding the meetings in 2009 .

The state of Massachusetts officials and politicians were well aware of the dangers of siting a commercial wind turbine in residential areas prior to the 2010 Falmouth installation.

Keeping up the Good Fight
by: Sharon Eddy

If enough people join together and keep up the fight, we should prevail. I believe government officials know most people cannot afford to sue, but a class-action might be a better forum. This, of course, after all other means of protest and attempts have been made to get them to correct their mistake(s).
Laws making government officials accountable has allows rung right in my ears. They are not above the law, though many assume they are as their actions speak volumes.
The sad part is that, every which way you look, we the people and taxpayers are paying the price for stupidity and greed.
I still say people should keep sleep logs and record what happens to them on a day to day basis
when the turbine(s) are running at full operating mode...not the slowed down speed we are getting a present.
I kept one for at least two months which I submitted to Falmouth Town Hall a year ago.

Education
by: Anonymous

Educating the public must continue via email, website and verbal. News associations do not appear to want involvement of reporting. They only seem to report the supposed positive of green energy. When will people realize THEY are funding a great part of many projects. I have attempted many times in the past to get news reporting done both local and nationally to interview those that have been effected....haven't seen any reporting yet. MANY people are completely unaware of the negative effects of these projects.
How about a wind project outside the legislators bedroom windows or surrounding the Sweet P farm (Patrick's retreat)? Oh, that's right, he doesn't live in Richmond all the time...for now.

Why is there no accountability?
by: EdD

This is typical behavior for public officials these days as there is no accountability at the county, state and federal level, and very little at the local level. As an example just look at the Cape Cod Commission and their refusal to release any documents concerning their illegal activities concerning windmills.Even though the state law requires the release of these documents, if they don't feel like releasing them they just don't release them. So far what has happened to them? NOTHING !!
The only way this will change is for the public to demand accountability by contacting their Representative and writing to their local newspapers.

Law suit time
by: Marsh Rosenthal

Is anyone suing these clowns? If the Town of Falmouth has to raise 5 million dollars to repay the federal loan they took, they should be sued for at least 10 million dollars for what they have done to their residents, as well as having to shut down and dismantle the wind turbines. I would like to see the prime purveyors of this debacle behind bars for serious stretches.

Patrick needs to back off
by: Anonymous

Patrick has backed himself in a corner and it's obvious he didn't do his homework. If he is smart he will look at the data himself. He should visit some of those homes in Falmouth and talk to the people. If this can happen in Falmouth it can happen in other communities and there will be a backlash. The goals of clean energy and energy independence are worthy goals but this is not the way to achieve those goals.

Unbelieveable
by: Anonymous

And there seemingly appears no negative repercussions upon those that lied.

Instead, the negative repercussions continue their torment upon a cluster of Falmouth residents... all the while WESRA continues it's march through the "Helen Keller' legislator.

Disgraceful officials
by: George Zebrowski

What an absolute disgrace for elected officials to look the other way when it comes to recognized problems with wind turbines.

Why doesn't Governor Patrick propose building a 415-foot wind turbine next to his home in Richmond, MA to prove he doesn't believe there are any issues with wind turbines close to residences? A lot of citizens of the Commonwealth would be willing to allow fast tracking that project.
