Best of Cape Cod

First time Cape Cod July 2011,

by M. Gordon
(Ireland)

We are three girls who are making our first trip to Cape Cod this July as part of a big USA trip including New York and Boston. We have only Cape Cod to book now. Four days in July -no idea where to base ourselves but we do have a car and just want to make the most of our few days there. We want to share a room but most places seem to only accommodate in rooms made for 2 adults and 2 children.Any suggestions?

ADVICE TO FIRST TIMERS
by: Anonymous

I would also definitely advise Hyannis as a base. We have been vacationing as a party of three, and have never had issues sharing one room at any of the mainstay hotels.
Chatham is a must, if only for the views, taking the seaside highway north from Chatham is also a can't miss.
Not sure of finances or likes, but other ideas are Cape Cod Brewery, Truro Vineyards, Provincetown (as everyone needs to experience that at least once), Whale Watching.
Whatever you choose, you will enjoy and want to come back!

Use the mid-cape as your base
by: Anonymous

There is a new youth hostel opening in Hyannis so if you want cheap that's a great idea to explore. Otherwise, I don't know why you couldn't get a room with two queen sized beds in a hotel. I would use the mid-cape (Hyannis, Yarmouth) as my home base if I had only 4 days. You will be only about an hour away from any activity that way. I would spend a day in Provincetown because there is nothing like that place in the whole world, one day on either Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, one day in Chatham or Woods Hole for quaint, and a day on the North-side beaches. Hyannis is a great place for night life and shopping. Enjoy!
